Last hike of the year

Because what else is there to do on an early weekend morning?

Every year I make a list of places I’d like to go visit. That doesn’t always happen and my Bucket List is getting longer.

This year has passed quicker than I was expecting and took me by surprise when the end of December suddenly appeared on my calendar. I wanted to do a lot more this year, and I did not have time. Did I set my expectations too high, or did I fail myself?  I think it may be a little of both. Either way, I did more this year than the year before, and that’s all that matters. I am very grateful for everything I have been able to carry out and for all the wonderful people who crossed my path.  But as this year comes to an end, we decided to go off the beaten path and do one last hike.

The day was cool with no sunshine in sight, but that turned out to be a good thing. Since we live in the desert, we have over two hundred sunny days per year. I take those clouds anytime!

No camera can justify the view or the depth. It’s very quiet from city traffic. Only birds and panting of the dog can be heard.

                                           Rocks fascinate me.

                        She loves hiking!

Someone’s target practice board.                            A very cool looking tree remains.

My digital rock collection is growing.

This is a place that makes you sit down and think about the precious life. Be grateful for every day, and everyone in it.

“Reflect upon your present blessings of which every man has many, not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.” – Charles Dickens.

This is my new best hiking friend. Other than the  dog, of course.                                                            It holds my camera and me, from falling at the same time!
